Saturday Gala Dinner & Dance Party
Date: Saturday 17 September 2022
Time: 19:30 – 00:00 hrs.
Venue: National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, EH1 1JF Edinburgh, Scotland
The gala dinner will be held in the National Museum of Scotland, which was formed in 2006 with the merger of the new Museum of Scotland, with collections relating to Scottish antiquities, culture and history, and the adjacent Royal Scottish Museum (so renamed in 1904), with collections covering science and technology, natural history, and world cultures. The two connected buildings stand beside each other on Chambers Street, by the intersection with the George IV Bridge, in central Edinburgh.
Royal Museum building
Construction was started in 1861 and proceeded in phases, with some sections opening before others had even begun construction. The original extent of the building was completed in 1888. It was designed by civil engineer Captain Francis Fowke of the Royal Engineers, who is also responsible for the Royal Albert Hall. The exterior, designed in a Venetian Renaissance style, contrasts sharply with the light-flooded main hall or Grand Gallery, inspired by The Crystal Palace.
Please join us for the Gala dinner, an excellent occasion to enjoy good food, classic wines and old or new friends. The unique and beautiful ambient of the Discoveries Gallery, the Entrance Hall & the Grand Gallery will add to the magic of the night as the dishes are served and the jokes will flutter around. Before heading to the main act, take some time to visit famous historical artefacts from Scotland, including Dolly the Sheep. The main act this evening will be the HipFlask Ceilidh band. The band play full on Ceilidh sessions or if you think a whole night of Ceilidh will be a bit much, don’t worry they offer a quality Ceilidh Combo option with the same great band and disco partners. We are 100% sure this will be a night to remember!
