Thorsten Rick

I am a board-certified veterinary diagnostic imager (DipECVDI) and hold the German national title in diagnostic imaging for small animals. I graduated and completed my doctoral thesis at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, followed by a residency in diagnostic imaging at Ghent University. Currently, I work as a teleradiologist, and senior radiologist at AniCura Small Animal Clinic Duisburg Asterlagen/Germany.

My clinical and research interests focus on ultrasonography and cross-sectional imaging in small animals, with a particular emphasis on contrast-enhanced ultrasound.

Since 2022, I have been part of the RIVDI Committee of the ECVDI and have served as Chair since 2024. In this role, I coordinate the weekly RIVDI rounds, the annual Mock Exam, the Resident Day at the ECVDI Annual Scientific Meeting, and the Welcome Day for new residents. I am passionate about teaching and take great pleasure in helping train the next generation of radiologists. I am also regularly involved in international continuing education as a speaker and course instructor.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my two kids and staying active through various sports, ranging from soccer to CrossFit.
