Thursday Museum Reception

Date: Thursday 15 September 2022
Time: 19:30 – 22:00 hrs.
Venue: Surgeons Quarter, Nicolson Street, EH8 9DW Edinburgh, Scotland
Fully booked

The Surgeons Quarter has a long history of innovation and inspiration. In fact they’ve been pushing the boundaries of surgical excellence for over 500 years. Precision is one of the many things that they are passionate about. This level of care and attention to detail is now being channelled into providing not just good, but outstanding service for and passion about getting things right.Besides having a drink with old friends and meeting new ones, the reception also offers a night entrance to the Surgeons' Hall Museums. The award winning Museums are home to one of the largest and most historic pathology collections in the United Kingdom and did you know that Arthur Conan Doyle, the author of Sherlock Holms, was a medical student here?

Surgeons’ Hall Museums reopened in 2015 after a major redevelopment project. As one of the oldest Museums in Scotland, the collections grew from 1699 after 'natural and artificial curiosities' were publicly sought, with the Playfair Building opening in 1832 to house the Barclay and Bell collections. Whilst the Museums were initially established as a medical teaching resource, all are now welcome to visit. Visiting the museum also helps fund the availability and development of surgical care around the world, which makes us a good place to host your event in more ways than one.
